(1979) Between Us is a natural evolution of Say It Ain't So's style. The songs vary in genre, as is usual in an MH album. A few tracks foreshadow the 80s pop sound that will ultimately dominate Murray's later offerings.
The other tracks are uniquely Murray. 'Sorry I Love You,' startles you with a crash of strings, and ends in Murray sounding so much on the brink of a complete breakdown that one can't imagine any singer more capable of imparting their voice with more pain than he.
The edgy 'Countryman' and the convincing 'It's So Hard Singing the Blues' both make this album a worthwhile purchase. Countryman has a great groove to it; it flies along... And who can't enjoy the soulful guitar work and the howls at the end of ...Blues? Next Album ->
